Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received significant support from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his team in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
