Boxer Joseph Parker Could Receive Imminent Suspension Due to Failed Doping Test
Former world champion Parker produced a positive sample in a drugs test administered the same day he fought in 11th-round stoppage against British heavyweight Ipswich-born Wardley.
The Bout and Its Stakes
The British boxer along with Parker engaged in a thrilling encounter staged in the UK capital in late October to decide the identity of the mandatory WBO contender against reigning heavyweight king Ukrainian champion Usyk.
Parker was previously the primary candidate to face the champion subsequent to putting together a remarkable six consecutive victories, but placed his mandatory challenger status on the line during the bout and suffered an 11th-round defeat.
Positive Test Along with Potential Consequences
A routine test given to Parker through the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency the day he fought came back positive which leaves the 36-year-old in a difficult position to prove his innocence.
His promotion team issued an announcement declaring: "The anti-doping body informed all required parties about Parker had a positive result after an anti-doping test conducted on the 25th October. While the matter is investigated, no further statements are forthcoming for now."
