Nearly 55,000 homes have currently been harmed by the rains, with their possessions and temporary homes ruined.

Persistent rains over the last seven days have compounded the extremely difficult situation of the vast number of evacuated Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as stated by relief groups.

"Horrendous" Conditions Brings Grave Dangers

A official described the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"The recent weather was truly horrendous for the residents. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gusts were so forceful," stated the representative.

Authorities voice significant worry that children sheltering in temporary structures in damp attire will fall victim to hypothermia and various illnesses.

Deaths and Significant Destruction

Medical officials have stated that one baby has succumbed from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins due to the storms.

Further statements indicate a increased fatality count. Authorities stated that several homes had collapsed completely and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Numerous individuals forced to find new shelter.

Relief Efforts Considered Insufficient

Organizations have stepped up deliveries of shelter, warm covers and garments since the truce commenced, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are striving constantly to bring in that aid and to distribute it, but the magnitude of the necessities is so enormous that we still have thousands of individuals and minors who are genuinely struggling nightly," warned one spokesperson.

Long-Term Challenges and Agreement Plans

The second phase of the agreement involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of military forces, and other conditions.

Humanitarian organizations have underscored the need for "increased and sustained aid to respond to urgent and long-term requirements."

The war was sparked by an offensive in late 2023. Subsequent campaigns have caused a high number of casualties in the area, based on official figures.
