Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for embracing chaos and mayhem with the same glee, all while telling gripping, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two visionaries whose creations have exemplified all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' format by featuring a fresh setting and cast of characters in each season.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady confidence and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the essence of society through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and bring our mutual bold, visionary sensibility to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
