Netflix Selects Perfect Star for Mr. 2 in One Piece Season 3
Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t take place until the third season, and a adored, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.
Netflix announced this week that the talented performer has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bon Clay. The role possesses the power to change into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that character reinterpreted as non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action show, unlike the original manga and cartoon version.
The new cast member joins a number of fresh additions who will portray the organization to reality, such as leader Sir Crocodile, played by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the lineup as the monarch of Alabasta.
Though this character is a major member of the organization, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Considering the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could signal additional alterations to the story’s structure.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the character. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is set to return for its season two on March 10th, 2026.
