Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Chants Targeting Coach Wilder

The striker has joined the Championship side only half a year following starting insulting chants aimed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's seven-year time with Leeds concluded through agreement this past summer.

One of the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds included starting offensive chants regarding Wilder during the club’s success festivities this spring. Currently, the former England international will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to lift the team he loves away from the relegation zone.

Past History Involving Bamford & Wilder

Both men had a past before Leeds earned promotion to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as a "muppet" back when the situation was different in 2018-19 and the Blades secured automatic promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

All appears has been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, urgently requiring of improvement in attack while Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely this spring. A repentant Bamford and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned Wilder the next day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I have no problem whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow professional! But I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We spent 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke as well and had a longer discussion together and he's a super guy, a class act. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and take it and that is an integral part of football at every level, even on a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Latest Playing Challenges

The forward featured in 18 appearances for Leeds last season however the ex- Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough striker has faced difficulties with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
