The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.

The twenty-seven-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.

She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".

Other WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a extended hiatus following the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
